At Christmas we remember that God entered into the brokenness and sin of our world to bring joy and redemption. This joy is what every human heart is searching for. It’s a joy that is deeper and more lasting than momentary happiness that fades. Jesus brought joy to the world! It began in the manger, was paid for on the cross, shone through His resurrection, will be fulfilled when He returns and will be enjoyed in eternity. With the joy Jesus came to bring, it reorders our lives: Jesus first, Others next, Yourself last. As we walk through the season of advent, we’ll spend each week focusing on the Hope, Peace, Love, and Joy that belong to us in Christ. What we’ll discover is that joy grows when we look up to Him, surrender our lives and live to serve others.
We’ll countdown the days to Christmas as a way to anticipate the arrival of Jesus we celebrate and experience the joy of Christmas in a deeper, more meaningful way. Each day, read the scripture together aloud, consider a few simple questions, and pray together. At the end of each week, we’d encourage you to light an Advent candle and in light of the week’s word and devotionals, discuss the family challenge to express the Joy of Jesus to others!
We’re praying it’s a meaningful Advent season for the whole Harvest family Merry Christmas!
